Wordle

My favorite ideas for using Wordle in the classroom, besides to display classroom rules, would be to to use it after reading a book.  Students can use this to collaborate all of the main points in the story. Also, this would be a great tool for students to use at the end of the year, they can make two, one about their favorite things they did this year, and another one about their least favorite things. Finally I think this would be great for teachers to create one each week and have all the main things students are going to be learning in the upcoming week!

  1. Good job. I just saw that Wordle now gives you an embed code for your Wordle, but when I tried it, it was itty bitty--so th elink is still better I think.

    I saw a blog post (http://bit.ly/gbfdEt) and it had lots of ideas for using word clouds (like Wordle):

    • overview or revision of a unit of work;
    • making predictions – use word clouds before students read or listen to a text and ask them to make predictions about the content of the text based on the word cloud;
    • text comparisons – create word clouds from several poems, short stories or articles and have students read the complete texts and match them to the word clouds.
    • create word clouds based on famous speeches and analyse the results by looking at the common words.
    • create a word cloud wall where students can brainstorm synonyms, antonyms or definitions for lists of vocabulary words.
